ATLANTA- State Senator Mitch Seabaugh (R-Sharpsburg) will host his annual Page Day at the Capitol for students from his district, sixth grade and above, on Tuesday, February 12, 2008.  The students will serve as pages for the Senate on that day.

“I would like to invite students, particularly those who are interested in civics and government to come spend a day with me at the State Capitol and learn first hand how the legislative process works,” Sen. Seabaugh said.  “Students are our future leaders of tomorrow and this is an excellent opportunity to learn about American politics in a way that can’t be learned from textbooks.”

Pages are granted access to the Senate Chamber for the day and are responsible for delivering messages to the Senators on the floor.  They may also be called by Senators on the floor to run special errands.  Each page is sponsored by their Senator, but will work for the entire Senate until the session is over that day.  They will receive a certificate, $10 honorarium and are scheduled to have their pictures made.

Parents and teachers who would like to nominate students to serve as pages should contact Sen. Seabaugh’s office at 404-656-6446.  Only students 12 years of age or older and in sixth grade or above will be considered.  The day will be an excused absence from school.  There are a limited number of slots available, so students will be considered on a first come, first serve basis.
